9/13/2021 Good afternoon FPA members! I just thought I'd give you an update on some items pertaining to the Foothills Pickleball Association. - The remaining posts for all of the pickleball courts have arrived, sadly the nets have not. - I ordered seven nets (identical to the ones currently at Taft Broome) on Friday, September 3rd. Unfortunately the expected date for pickleball nets being in stock (everywhere) is the last week of September. Lord willing, the remaining courts (6 at Westmont and 1 at Taft Broome) will be available for play the first or second week of October. - As far as Optimist, there is an email in to public services to see where the drainage problem repair at Optimist is on their schedule, but I haven't heard anything back yet. Once the drainage problem is fixed the Optimist courts will be repaired and resurfaced. - At Westmont the two courts in the middle do not have a tennis net between them like the outer courts do. Does anyone have an inexpensive way of creating a non permanent barrier between the two middle courts? You could tie some type of netting to one tennis pole and pull it across the opening to the other tennis pole. The drawback to that is you would create a situation where you would have to step over it to get the pickleball on occasion. What are some better options? - Our business cards have arrived from Pickleball Central. They sent me around 250 cards so I'm going to try and give each of you 3 or 4 of them (65 FPA members currently on this group email) when I can. If we find that we need more I will certainly order more of them from PC. I had my skin cancer surgery recheck today and I'm cleared to finally play pickleball again, so hopefully I can make it out to the courts soon to give you these cards. - In regards to our FPA Discount Code, CRFoothillsPA, at www.PickleballCentral.com: remember, you can share it on your social media pages but not on discount coupon places such as RetailMeNot, CouponCodes4U, etc. Again, if our code is used (by whoever and wherever), the person using it gets a 5% discount and 5% of their total amount is put into the FPA account at Pickleball Central. - Roger Crooks said that I skipped diving into the 8 foot deep end of the pool with the creation of the Foothills Pickleball Association and dove straight into a lake (or maybe he told me to go jump in a lake?). I think he's spot on with that because last week I had Brahma Graphx in downtown Hickory make me an "Official FPA Logo" decal for my car so I could help spread the word about pickleball in our community (and when my car gets out of the shop I'll put the decal on). While they had the logo I figured what the heck, I'd go ahead and ask them to make a shirt just to see how it would turn out. Yes, I know, I went way overboard! But hey, if someone sees either of them and asks what the Foothills Pickleball Association is, I look forward to telling them what an incredible group of players, and people, you all are, and inviting them out to the courts!!! I guess that's all the updates I have for right now. I apologize - this email did start out as pretty short but it kept growing and growing and growing and..... I hope everyone has a fantastic week and I look forward to seeing you out on the courts very soon! B. Benjamin Bishop
